About us
We began selling skateboarding products on eBay in 2003 focusing mainly on skate bearings and blank decks. As young and poor skaters ourselves who couldn't afford the big brands, the idea was to sell good quality unbranded products at low prices to give everyone the opportunity to buy good quality skateboards. In the summer of 2004 we bought our first wholesale lot of 100 sets of bearings, previously we had only bought in small quantities. This was our make or break point which luckily was a success. Using the quantity of goods we established ourselves as one of the biggest skateboard shops on eBay.co.uk.
In November 2005 we started buying into more brands, extending our range of products, but with the quantities we bough we were able to keep the prices low which was the main reason we set up. There was also an opportunity to buy the stock from a closing shop which we took. Following this several more shops contacted us to see if we would be interested in their stock. We accepted and broke the stock down to sizable chunks which we sold to several new parks and shops. Though it only accounts for a small proportion of the business, we still buy and sell the stock from closing shops and regularly get contacted with interest.
Over the next two years we focused mainly on the eBay shop, gradually extending our range and size. In 2007 we bought the domain skate.co.uk which we have been using to present ourselves to potential customers and we are now supplying individuals, shops, parks and clubs all over the country. Our eBay shop is constantly expanding and we are always on the look out for new brands.
In early 2008 we launched the skate.co.uk park database. It was designed as a site for users to write reviews about their local skatepark and as a resource of information if they were interested in building a skatepark. We came up with the the idea several years ago, but never had the time or expertise to build it. It is now a popular part of the site and is steadily growing. We still have a long way to go with it, but it has been improved dramatically since it was launched.
